For over 30 years Agro Engineer Marcos Victorino has been developing technologies for urban agriculture projects in Brazil. With the increase of population in urban areas, few spaces available for deployment of gardens in new buildings, there is a need to create new technologies that fit in to urban structures. As there is little land vacant in big cities, the engineer developed an research project using roof tiles in order to assemble beds that are suspended.
The project is now success and ten different models are in operation in urban locations such as rooftops, school yards and parking structures.
In the video above, we are showing the newest project, a garden with wheels, so you can move the garden from one location to another or even move it as far as another city in the same way you would move your home furniture. Another advantage is its low water consumption and its better use of fertilizer. This is important when you consider sustainability gardening.

The educational garden projects developed by the Agro. Engineer Marcos Victorino aims to serve as educational support, complementing the activity in the classroom, improving knowledge, interacting with the environment and helping students in their understanding the various factors related to the growth of plants.
The design shown in the photos was implemented in the school community in São Paulo – Brazil. This educational vegetable garden is a voluntary partnership between the Agro. Engineer and the Municipal School of Early Childhood Education “Guia Lopes,” located in the neighborhood of Limao, São Paulo, Brazil.
Along with the educational work, we are working with classroom activities related to healthy eating, where we encourage the consumption of vegetables in the diet of children and with a great advantage because they are the ones who are making the salad in the school garden.
Regarding the construction of the garden, flowerbeds are suspended and assembled by using tiles as large planters with soil and fertilizers. We also take into account the ease of access to students with special needs, such as students in wheelchairs who develop their activity without the need for help from others in order to participate as a non discriminatory action.
In 2013 we will work with the theme of sustainability, creating our own compost, capturing rainwater and reusing scraps to assemble greenhouses. Surely it will be a very productive year!
